Example Scenario

This is an example scenario that demonstrates the capabilities of InfoLink, and shows how the system can help CALL create and maintain products that benefit the Army.

CALL observers are assigned the task of observing several convoy missions, so for this demonstration, InfoLink will help us create a chapter in CALL Handbook 03-20, “Force Protection Operations.”

First, CALL observer Agent First has been sent on a convoy mission to make observations and document any improvements that can be made to the defense and protection of the convoy.

The first thing Agent First does is logon to InfoLink

  • Username: first
  • Password: first

Agent First is able to review other existing documents in the system that he has permission to view. During the mission he will upload material he has gathered concerning “vehicle hardening” into the system into the appropriate topic area.

Back at headquarters, CALL analyst Agent Second logs in.

  • Username: second
  • Password: second

Agent Second wants to append new information to our working document in “Convoy Missions.” After locating the document and creating a sub-section, he locates the content that he wants to import from the following sources:

  • Content uploaded by CALL observer Agent First
  • Content from an existing document in the system
    (Tactical Convoy Operations: Vehicle Hardening)
  • Original content that he has created.

After inserting this information, Agent Second decides that he needs to update some of the information from the other document before importing it into a section of his document. After editing the content, it is automatically saved as a new version, which he then inserts into his document.

After saving the new document, Agent Second will download the XML document he created and view it off-line using the included XSLT sheet.
